Die Young, Stay Pretty: Jon Eric Hexum

Jon Eric Hexum was an early eighties leading man (or "hunk") whose managers had the wisdom to have him photographed extensively while shirtless. Classically handsome in a very soap opera way, he may have had great things ahead of him.
I remember him from two eighties classics. The first was "The Making of a Male Model" a made-for-TV movie in which Joan Collins picks him out, shakes him up and turns him around....and turns him into someone new (in the immortal words of Human League). I don't remember what happens in that one but I'm sure gives up his glamourous life to go back to Iowa and marry Alice or some shit.
The second was the thin premised but amazing "Cover Up", a series in which he and Cover Girl Jennifer O'Neil infiltrated foreign governments masquerading as models when the were in fact espionage-ing. Believe it or not, this was the premise of EVERY episode. Sadly, this series ended with his death.
On the set there was a bizarre accident involving him shooting himself with a blank bullet, which in fact killed him.
I'm sure if given the choice he would rather be alive and un-hot today, but he sure is frozen in time as a smoking hot guy.
Rest in peace Jon.
