More of "The Gay Book" with Jake Taylor

With this spread the right side is Jake Taylor from "Code of Conduct" (and my dreams), and the left side is part of an exercise spread from Muscle and Fitness. I know its sort of weird, but the steroidy supertan guy doing the strap overhead extension (and seemingly staring at Jake demonically) was hot to me. This whole project was based on the idea that inserting my true porn into the pornish muscle mag would create a super porn mag. I'm not sure if I succeeded. I am sure that I got tired of the project and did a half assed job. The American way.












I'd love to name this guy, but all identifiers have been taped over by pictures of Jake and I can't desecrate this artifact by removing the pictures and looking. It wouldn't be right. More to come with Jake and muscle man.

Scott Styles

I remember clearly August 1997. I'd graduated college but hadn't gotten into grad school yet, so I was in a state of limbo, still living in my college town, unsure what the next step should be. I was also just a few months away from taking the plunge and finally fucking a guy, although I was very much still closeted. I was visiting my folks in New York, walking home from a friend's house, more than a little high, when I stopped at a news stand and saw the following cover peeking out at me:


I had never noticed Men Magazine before, but I snatched up the copy and brought it home under my coat to look at in my bedroom. Scott Styles was so unlike the hairless porn stars I was used to. Well built but not enormously muscular, dark, sort of brooding...I was hooked. Turns out I wasn't alone--Scott won "Man of the Year" for that spread, which remains a favorite of mine. I ended up getting a subscription to the magazine which I maintain to this day. He really deserves residuals for that.

Turns out Scott is a successful straight porn star/former rocket scientist (for real). He has smartly acknowledged his appeal to gay guys too, giving us shout-outs on his formidable website, and appearing in several SG4GE (straight guys for gay eyes) videos, which is straight porn which focuses on the man. He's also a super nice guy...everything I've ever ordered from his website has been autographed and often accompanied with a personal email from Scott.

12 years later Scott is still going strong in the porn department, though usually shaved as is the norm for the straight world. I would highly recommend his website, where a porn stalker like myself can buy sweaty underwear or gently used condoms worn by the man himself.
